Despite being over 250 years old, Crag Cottage is cosy and comfortable. Nestled under the crags of the Old Man, the location is unbeatable. Walk onto the Coniston fells from the back door and into the village in 5 minutes.

The Space

Enter the cottage through a small porch area which is an ideal place to dry out walking boots and damp clothes. The cosy oak-beamed living room is divided by a large, comfortable sofa into a seating area with an open fire and a dining area large enough for 6. A large selection of games, maps, books, and DVDs for the Smart TV are provided and make the cottage feel like a home from home.

The well-equipped kitchen is situated at the back of the cottage with an electric cooker and hob, dishwasher, built-in microwave, washing machine/dryer, fridge/freezer, toaster, and ample cupboard space. The back door leads from the kitchen straight out onto the fells. Perfect for four-legged guests.

Upstairs there are two comfortable and charming bedrooms with beautiful views. Both bedrooms enjoy high-quality bed linen and bedding.

Bedroom 1 has a super king size bed that can be made into twin single beds, depending on your needs;

Bedroom 2 has a king size bed.

The bathroom has a WC and bath/shower and there is also a separate WC.

Outside

A small patio to the front of the cottage acts as a little sun trap with a bench to enjoy the views across the fields and woods towards Grizedale Forest and the lake in winter.

There is secure storage for up to 4 bicycles in the outhouse at the back of the property.

The Area

Enjoy lake-life on the shores of Coniston Water, just a ten-minute amble away on foot. Down at the lake, you will find a whole host of water-based activities throughout the year, including kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing, and rowing.

If you’re looking to gain some altitude and admire the views from the top during your time here, the Coniston Fell Range is accessible from the front door and includes seven magnificent Wainwright summits (Coniston Old Man, Dow Crag, Swirl How, Brim Fell, Wetherlam, Great Carrs & Great Friar).

The tracks and trails of Grizedale Forest are accessible from the east side of the lake and provide a mountain biker's paradise!

Back in the village enjoy a plethora of cosy country pubs, independent shops, and inviting cafes, most of which happily accept canine companions!
