From Boardroom to Beach (Almost): Our Lakes & Country Journey
For a combined 25 years, we navigated the ever-changing tides of the holiday industry, wearing many hats along the way. After a decade of working side-by-side, a shared dream began to take shape – a venture that truly reflected our values.
Enter 2019 and a fateful (and slightly ambitious) surfing/yoga retreat in Cornwall. We envisioned a soul-rejuvenating escape in Poldark country, surrounded by kindred spirits. Now, neither of us had ever even attempted yoga, let alone tamed a surfboard – but hey, that’s the beauty of stepping outside your comfort zone, right?
It was amidst the wild Cornish waves and unruly surfboards that something clicked. The dream morphed from a “what if” to a resounding “let’s do this!” (Although, a rogue surfboard connecting with our heads might have also played a part.)
By 2020, we had set sail – not on surfboards, but on a new adventure: our very own letting agency (Lakes & Country), nestled in the heart of Coniston village. While our surfing dreams never quite reached professional status, and Ross Poldark sightings remained elusive, we’ve become experts in charming cottages and showcasing the best the Lake District has to offer.
