A Charming Lakeland Village

Every so slightly tucked away from the busier Lakeland towns and villages of Ambleside, Windermere and Keswick you’ll find the unassuming yet completely charming village of Coniston.

Steeped in mining history the village is dominated by the imposing outline of Coniston Old Man standing at 2635ft. If you’re looking to gain some altitude and admire the views this is the place for you. The Coniston Fell Range includes seven magnificent Wainwright summits (Coniston Old Man, Dow Crag, Swirl How, Brim Fell, Wetherlam, Great Carrs & Great Friar).

Coniston Water, in all it’s beauty is easily reachable on foot from the village and offers a plethora of water based activities for all ages and abilities throughout the year, including kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing, rowing and more.

The village boasts several country pubs, independent shops, and inviting cafes, most of which happily accept canine companions!

So whether you’re looking to get active or simply wish to relax and enjoy the views, you can do it here in Coniston. In conclusion, the village is a great base from which to explore the Lake District and Cumbria.
