Location

Enjoy lake life on the shores of Coniston Water, just a ten-minute amble away on foot. Down at the lake, you will find a whole host of water-based activities throughout the year, including kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing, and rowing.

If you’re looking to gain some altitude and admire the views from the top during your time here, the Coniston Fell Range is accessible from the front door and includes seven magnificent Wainwright summits (Coniston Old Man, Dow Crag, Swirl How, Brim Fell, Wetherlam, Great Carrs & Great Friar).

The tracks and trails of Grizedale Forest are accessible from the east side of the lake and provide a mountain biker's paradise!

Back in the village enjoy a plethora of cosy country pubs, independent shops, and inviting cafes, most of which happily accept canine companions!

"We recently booked Waverley for a family Birthday. We have a large extended family, so what better way than to celebrate all together on a fresh autumnal weekend in the run-up to Christmas? The house is great for large families or groups, with ample-sized bedrooms and multiple bathrooms. It’s very practical with a robust kitchen, large dining table, lounge area, open fires, onsite parking, and amenities for dogs to stay. What we particularly enjoyed was the close proximity to a clean, child-friendly park (literally across the road), the 5-minute walk down to the picturesque Lake and not to mention, the lovely local bars, restaurants, and shops within walking distance. It’s also a cyclable distance to Grizedale forest. However, sadly a few trees had fallen onto the trails, so it was closed at the time of our visit. We headed to the Christmas markets at Hawkshead instead. I would definitely recommend Waverley for large groups looking for a special place to make memories in Coniston."
